IITH YENAGOA NOW NATIONAL SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION CENTRE
The official presentation of the Center Accreditation and Training Approval to the International Institute of Tourism

and Hospitality, Yenagoa, by the Institute of Tourism Professionals, Abuja, took place over the weekend at its

Corporate Headquarters, in Abuja.
The event which was presided over by the President of ITP, Mr. Abiodun, Odusanwo, who said the accreditation, would

enable the Institute to deliver National Skill Qualifications Training and Certification in Tourism, Hospitality and

other allied areas. The Institute for Tourism Professionals, according to Mr. Ogunsanwo, is an approved Awarding Body

(Hospitality and Tourism), by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to handle all aspects of Technical and

Vocational Education falling outside the University Education system
The ITP President who lauded the Bayelsa State Government for the initiative of establishing the Institute, also

commended the leadership of the Institute in raising the bar of manpower development and training in the Tourism sector

He announced that ITP would partner with IITH Yenagoa, for the training of selected trainees under the n-Power program

of the Federal Government in Tourism and Hospitality, which hope to commence in September this year.
While receiving the Center Certification Plaque from the ITP President, the Rector of IITH Yenagoa, Samuel Timi

Johanson, thanked the Governing Council of ITP, for approving the Institute as its training and certification centre in

the South-South and South East regions of the Country. The Rector, who also used the opportunity of the event to

announce that the Institute has also secured an Authorization approval from the International Air Transport Association

(IATA} based in Montreal, Canada, to commence the training of its Professional Certification Programmes under Travels

and Tourism, which include Foundation, Consultant and Management, Airline Management and Operations, Airport and Ground

Operations, Cargo Handling among others, further disclosed that the final accreditation of its National Diploma

Programme shall be concluded with the visit of the Quality Assurance and Facilities evaluation team from the National

Board for Technical Education Kaduna, to the Institute, in the last week of September 2018.
The admissions to the NVQ and IATA programmes, according to the Rector, shall commence in August 2018.Other management

staff on the Rector’s entourage include the Registrar of the Institute, Leo Adeh, the Ag. Bursar, Martins Diegbegha and

the Internal Auditor of the Institute, Tombra Yerikema.
